FREIGHT WIN 63-42 OVER ARIZONA ON SUNDAY NIGHT
Fishers claims second win of the season at home
FISHERS- The Fishers Freight hosted the Arizona Rattlers on Sunday night to close out the weekend. After going up early, the Freight held onto their lead all game and claimed a dominant 63-42 win.
FIRST QUARTER
The Freight started the game with the ball and on the second play of the game, Josiah King ran the ball in for a touchdown. After a good kick by Calum Sutherland, Fishers went up 7-0.
Fishers’ defense came out hard on Arizona’s first drive of the game but on third down, Max Meylor passed to Arland Bruce who ran 17 yards for the touchdown. The extra point kick was good, tying the score 7-7.
Josiah King scored his second touchdown of the game on the next drive for the Freight making it 14-7 after a good kick. Sutherland added two points to the Freight’s lead with a successful deuce on the next kickoff.
Kymani Clarke scored next for Arizona after a quick pass from Meylor and a long run into the end zone.
Fishers converted on fourth down for a touchdown with a long 29-yard pass from Felix Harper to JT Stokes to make it 23-14 after another good kick from Sutherland.
The Rattlers had one more possession but could not score. The first quarter ended with the Freight up, 23-14.
SECOND QUARTER
Arizona’s Rob Brown Jr. scored a touchdown early in the second quarter. After what looked like an unsuccessful field goal attempt, the Rattlers challenged the call and it was overturned. Ultimately, the score was 23-21 in favor of Fishers.
On the very next play, Josiah King scored his third touchdown of the game on the kick return. The score became 30-21 after a good kick from Fishers.
Dominic Roberto added to the Freight’s lead with a touchdown to make it 36-21. The score remained the same after a missed kick by Sutherland.
Jaiden Roe intercepted a throw from Meylor on the next drive, giving the Freight the ball again late in the first half. The Freight were able to convert that into a touchdown caught by Isaiah Coulter with 43 seconds to go in the half. The kick was unsuccessful, leaving the score at 42-21.
After a sack on Max Meylor with three seconds left in the half, Arizona elected to try the first field goal of the game. For 31 yards, the kick was no good. That is how the first half ended.
THIRD QUARTER
Meylor threw to a wide open Kymani Clarke to open the scoring for the Rattlers in the second half. After a good kick, the score was 42-28 still in favor of the Freight.
After a lengthy drive from Fishers, Dominic Roberto scored his second touchdown of the game. After a good extra point from Sutherland, the score became 49-28.
On the Rattlers’ second drive of the half, Meylor ran in a touchdown to make it 49-35 after a good extra point kick.
Arizona attempted an onside kick on their next kickoff. It was collected by JT Stokes who almost ran it in for a touchdown but was stopped short.
The third quarter ended with the Freight driving, close to the end zone again.
FOURTH QUARTER
Despite taking almost four minutes to complete the drive, the Freight were able to score another touchdown. Isaiah Coulter caught the pass from Harper to make it 56-35 after another good kick from Calum Sutherland.
Arizona added another touchdown right at the end of the game but it was not enough and the Freight ultimately took the 63-42 win.
