FREIGHT WIN IMPORTANT ROAD MATCHUP WITH RATTLERS
Freight steals win on the road in Western Conference matchup
GLENDALE- The Fishers Freight headed to Arizona to take on the Rattlers on Sunday night. After a close game, a field goal attempt was the deciding factor and Fishers claimed a 37-36 victory.
FIRST QUARTER
On the first possession of the game, it appeared the Freight scored a touchdown on a long throw from Felix Harper to Jordan Davis. The play was reviewed after a challenge from Arizona and ultimately overturned due to a personal foul. They ultimately had to try for a field goal and missed.
DJ Lundy scored for Arizona on their first drive to put the Rattlers up 6-0 before a successful extra point kick.
Fishers earned an important first down after a tough run from Roberto as time expired on the first quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
Roberto scored the game’s next touchdown to complete that drive and tie the game at 7-7 after a good kick from Calum Sutherland.
On Arizona’s next possession, the Freight held them to a field goal attempt which Matthew Cook missed.
The Freight took a 14-7 lead after Harper found Jordan Davis all alone for a run into the end zone and a good kick from Sutherland.
Fishers tacked on two more points on the next kickoff as Sutherland’s deuce attempt was successful. This made it 16-7.
Trey Odoms-Dukes scored next for the Rattlers to make it 16-14 before they went for a deuce and did not make it.
The Rattlers held Fishers to a field goal attempt with one second left in the first half. They did not score.
THIRD QUARTER
Ron Brown, Jr. returned the second half kickoff from Fishers for a touchdown to put the Rattlers up 20-16 after the Freight blocked the extra point kick.
The Freight took the lead again when they went up 23-20 after a touchdown by Jordan Davis.
Arizona matched them once more with another touchdown before the quarter was over. The Rattlers took a 27-23 lead.
FOURTH QUARTER
Quickly into the fourth quarter, the Freight took a 29-27 lead courtesy of Josiah King running the ball in. Sutherland missed the extra point kick.
On the next drive, Fishers held Arizona to a field goal attempt. The kick was good from Cook, giving them a 30-29 lead.
The Freight scored another touchdown soon after from Josiah King again. They went for the two-point conversion but could not get it. Instead, they tacked on two points with Sutherland’s second deuce of the game. This gave the Freight a 37-30 lead.
With under a minute to go, Drew Powell rushed for an Arizona touchdown to bring them within one point. After a penalty pushing back the extra point attempt, Cook missed the kick. This gave the Freight a 37-36 lead.
With thirty seconds left, the Freight went for a field goal to put them up by four however they did not make it.
The Rattlers put the ball in the hands of their kicker, Matthew Cook, to try for a game-winning field goal. He did not make it, and Fishers claimed a 37-36 victory.
